Zlatko Stić graduated in Chemistry from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, in 1986 and began his career as a chemistry teacher in primary and secondary schools. Since 1990, he has been employed at the Chemical and Geological Technical School, where he became principal in 1993 — a position he still holds today.
During his tenure as principal, he has led numerous development projects: the introduction of new educational programs (cosmetology, environmental technician, natural sciences gymnasium, bilingual department), the expansion and modernization of the school, and its strategic shift toward a contemporary STEM and ICT-focused environment. He has been actively involved in numerous national and international educational initiatives and committees, including Erasmus+, e-Schools, Grand Prix Chimique, and Lidrano.
He has received multiple awards, including the City of Zagreb Award and the “”Ivan Filipović”” Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022. Through nearly three decades of dedicated leadership, he has built a school recognized for excellence, innovation, and humanity, leaving a lasting mark on the Croatian education system — not only through tangible projects and results but also through the values he has consistently promoted: professionalism, responsibility, solidarity, and a deep, ongoing commitment to investing in the future of young people.
