Dr.sc. Boris Balent

Sports Psychologist
GNK Dinamo
Boris graduated in Psychology from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb and earned his PhD at the Faculty of Kinesiology with a dissertation on mindset. Alongside sports psychology, which initially served as a kind of hobby, he has been working for over 18 years as a consultant in the fields of soft-skills training, potential assessment, coaching, and HR system development. He has led numerous projects in the domains of human resources and sports psychology, combining these two seemingly different branches of psychology, with a strong focus on team building and fostering functional communication within teams. As an external associate, he lectured on Communication Skills, Psychological Techniques in Practice, and Sports Psychology at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, the Faculty of Kinesiology, the Croatian Studies, and the University of Primorska. He is also an external associate of Coventry University in England. Boris is the author of two books and numerous professional and scientific papers. Hobby in sports psychology soon evolved into a more serious commitment, and throughout his career, besides working with top level athletes and coaches, Boris also established mental preparation systems in two Croatian football clubs. Boris is currently, for the second time, employed as the sports psychologist for the first team of GNK Dinamo Zagreb.
